PROFESSIONAL EQUIPMENT / PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE / PROFESSIONAL RESULTS

We specialize in insulating new construction and renovations, retro-fit projects including attics, exterior walls, basements and crawlspaces. We insulate with blown-in cellulose, blown-in fiberglass, fiberglass batt and our most popular product, closed cell spray foam (used most often in basements and crawlspaces to reduce heat loss).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Additional insulation can be applied directly over existing insulation in your attic unless the existing insulation has been damaged by moisture, contains mould or has been damaged by rodents.  In these circumstances, the existing insulation should be removed and disposed.

Yes, your pets should also vacate the home.

When spray foam is applied in your home, the property must be vacant while we are spraying and for 24 hours following the completion of the job.

Determining whether you have insulation could be as easy as removing the cover plate on a switch or outlet, then looking into the gaps around the electrical box.  Fiberglass batt insulation or loose-fill insulation will often be evident in the spaces around the electrical box.  Alternatively, you can drill a small hole in a wall that will not be seen and can be repaired easily.

Different areas of homes (walls, ceilings, basements) require varying R-Values of insulation. Please refer to the “New Construction R-Values” document above for this information.

A hot-roof is one where there is no ventilation required in the roof as the 2lb closed cell spray foam insulation is directly applied to the roof sheathing.  Building Code in Nova Scotia specifies a minimum R-Value of R-31 in a hot-roof application.

We recommend 2lb closed cell spray foam for your basement walls.  This type of insulation does not absorb moisture and acts as a vapour barrier.  At the same time, it closes air gaps.
