Step By Step Insulation Process For New Construction

This is our general process of steps of insulation. Sometimes these process are done in different order

Set Start Date

Decide on a date to start insulation work. All framing, electrical, and plumbing final inspections, needs to be completed.

Rim Joices

Rims or Box sills will be sprayed at the start of the job most of the time.

Insulate Attic
Fiberglass or Cellulose

 

Spray Foam


To insulate attic we will install the vapour barrier on the ceiling and then blow in the insulation. The sheetrock does not need to be installed the vapour barrier will support the weight of the insulation.

If The attic is getting spray foamed then the sheetrock will have to be installed on the ceiling.

Insulating the Walls

Before insulating the walls we will tape electrical boxes and put plastic over the windows doors to insure a clean job when we are finished. Fiberglass will then be sprayed on and messed cleaned up when finished

Vapour Barrier

Spray Foam CLOSED CELL


The Spray On Fiber Glass will need a minimal of two days drying time before it can be vapour barrier. Vapour barrier will be taped or acoustical sealant around every window, door, and seam.

Does not need vapour barrier. Acoustical sealant will be installed along the top, bottom plate and between double studs.

Final inspection and clean up

Maritime Insulators will do a final inspection on their work and clean up. Insulation and vapour barrier is guaranteed to pass inspection.

Job completion

 A house that is the size in this book will take three days to complete.
